Friday Favorites

It's Friday, and that means I'm back with my Friday Favorites.

1.  I made this jalapeƱo popper dip on Sunday for the Super Bowl and it was a hit!!!  I found this recipe on Pinterest, thought it sounded good and figured I'd give it a shot.  I'm telling you… people were talking!

2.  A couple of weeks back, Gracie and I watched a movie called, "A Good Lie".  Have you all seen it?  I loved it!  I don't watch much for shows or movies very often because I find most of them to be pretty lame or completely offensive.  But this was good!

3.  I just read and finished the "Diamond of the Rockies" series a couple of days ago.  I will try and blog about them next week, but in case you are needing some good reading material over the weekend, I would recommend them for sure.  I read them quickly, because anytime a book has tension or stressful things happening, I can't relax or rest until it is resolved.  Lets just say, I didn't get as much done in the last week and half as I should have.  Whoops!  ;)

4.  I'm heading out of town to pick up my 2 1/2 year old niece this morning.  She gets to hang with us for a couple of days.  I'm hoping to take her out to lunch, maybe hit up the library and find something fun to do until the kids get out of school.  It's been a while since I've had to entertain a 2 year old for very long.  We're all excited, and a little nervous!  ;)

5.  And lastly because we all need some humor in our lives…
The weather has actually been really nice this winter so I can't complain, but some years, this is spot on!  Haha!

So true!!!

I linked up today with Andrea, Erika, & Narci

Memory lane

I thought it would be fun to take a little trip down memory lane.  Back when we were engaged and married, camera's hadn't gone digital yet.  So most of these pictures had to be dug out of boxes from the upstairs.  Welcome back to 2000.  :)

Dan and I met in the summer right before my senior year.  He instantly became my best friend, and within 4 months of officially dating, we got engaged.  Yep... I was a senior in high school and engaged.  Ha!  Looking back I was so young, but it seemed the most natural thing to do.  I knew he was perfect for me.  We got engaged in November and started planning a summer wedding.  My friends were all going to be leaving for college by August and I wanted to make sure that they would be around, and I was so anxious to start my life with this man, that we decided on June.  My poor Mother!!!  She had my graduation party to plan for the end of May and my wedding to plan for the 16th of June.  Sorry Mom!  ;)

Here is our engagement picture that we had taken at Sears and put in our local paper to announce our engagement.  This pictures makes me laugh, because who poses like this?  This was one of the many pictures that made me want to be an outdoor photographer.

My Groom

We were married in our Church were I've attended since I was born.

After the ceremony we left the church and had our reception out at the local golf course.

Look at those two young kids.  Eeek!

Honeymooned down in Cancun...

4 months later, I was pregnant!

Gracie was born in June of 2002.

2004 rolled around and Jesse arrived

2007 and Emma Jean completed our family

Here we all were in 2013.  My babies all growing up.

It has been a wild 14 1/2 years with this man.  We've both aged a bit, or a lot.  Haha!  ;)  We definitely aren't the same young kids that we once were.  Marriage isn't always a piece of cake or easy by any means, but I love where we are at right now and how far we've come.  I wouldn't trade this man for anyone else.  He puts up with my weird and quirky personality.  He's my rock... my safe place.  I can't imagine my life without him.  I guess that's how marriage is supposed to be, right?!

This and that

Last week was a busy week for me, and I didn't blog at all.  Eeek!  Plus sometimes, I feel that I'm just doing the mundane everyday chores, and how do you blog about that.  The kids are all in school and I'm just doing laundry, dishes, cleaning, grocery shopping... boring!

Thursday, Gracie and I headed out of town with my sister Lindy and her daughter Belle.  Both girls had orthodontist appointments.  Gracie's was just a consultation, so we'll be going back later on for braces but for now we are told to wait for more teeth to come in.  I can wait.  :)

The girls both got hair cuts and Gracie got some highlights put in.  She was so excited and loving how her hair looked.

We loaded up at Costco and headed home.  Thankfully I have a camera for when I needed to back up.  Full load!

Friday evening, Jesse and his friends played basketball during the high school boys half time.  It was so fun to watch and I was so excited for him and his friends.  The varsity kids always have a starting line up where they are introduced and the band plays and gets the team and fans all excited.  Well, they went ahead and introduced the young boys too.  I thought it was so neat, and all of these high school kids are so good with the younger boys.  This is Jesse running out after the announcer called his name.  He ran right at Corey and they did a little "chest bump."  It was awesome.

They included them in a group huddle and really made them feel like big kids.

Emma ended up having her friend stay the night that night.  Sweet girls.  :)

And my niece Shea came over to play Saturday afternoon.  Emma made sure she was all dolled up.

Yesterday, we went to Church and came home to watch the Super Bowl.  Dan had been decorating and getting the house all decked out to watch the game.  Unfortunately, they didn't win.  :(  But it was a fun game to watch and we had so much fun hanging out with our friends.  We had Cowboy fans and Raiders fans both cheering for our Seahawks.  They'll never admit it though.  ;)

The Seahawk stuff is all down now, as it's time to reclaim my space.  But it was fun for the day.  :)
I love my girls!  We laughed so hard, my face still hurts today!  :)

I hope you all had a great weekend as well!
