Friday afternoon on March 3rd, Emma and I were on our way back home after going into Missoula for a dentist appointment, when Dan called. Dan said he was going to buy tickets to Hawaii and that he'd be booking rooms shortly. Could we be ready to go by the next afternoon?! Eeek! I'm a planner. I plan months in advance. I pack our bags weeks in advance. No, I can't be ready in less than 24 hours. But then I decided to be a bit more spontaneous like my little sister, and I hurried home and packed up what I knew we had on hand and figured we'd stop on our way to the airport to grab the rest.
And just like that... we loaded up the car and took of for Hawaii.
We drove over to Spokane, where Gracie, Emma and I got our hair done and picked out a couple of new outfits. Dan took Jesse to pick up a couple of things and get him a haircut as well.
Emma's selfie. :)
This boy of mine... he cracks me up!
Our teenager, who was a bit too cool to sit with us. ;)
We flew out of Spokane and got into Seattle around 11:00. We waited and waited for our bags, which never showed up. So the kids and I took the shuttle over to our hotel, to get a couple hours of sleep before our 3:30 wake up call to head back to catch our next flight.
Dan stayed and waited for them to find our bags and didn't get to the room until 1:30. He got 2 hours of sleep and was our hero. My contacts were about to fall out of my eyes, so when he showed up with our bags, I was a happy girl.
The whole time I kept thinking we should have just stayed home. All the last minute planning and weird flight schedules were getting to me. Then at last, we were there...
And all the traveling to get there, was suddenly worth it!
We didn't do a lot on this trip. We sat by the pool and played in the ocean... that was it. We had great plans to take them snorkeling, site seeing and do a couple other things. But when it came down to it, we were all content to just relax and stay where we were. I'll share more pictures from our trip but I'll leave that for another post. Today, I'm doing laundry, making grocery lists, and trying to stay awake.
XOXO
