An extra turkey day

This weekend flew by.  On Saturday, we went and watched the junior high girls basketball game in the morning, and then we came home and I think I was in the kitchen the whole day.  But it was worth it.  :)

Every year we spend Thanksgiving with Dan's side of the family. This year I decided that I was going to make a turkey dinner a couple weeks before Thanksgiving, so that we could enjoy a mini thanksgiving at home and plus who doesn't love to have yummy Thanksgiving leftovers?!

Emma helped me the whole time.  I'm figuring at this rate, I might have a couple more years of cooking, and then she should be fully capable to take over.  ;)

We prepped the turkey, which I think was her favorite part.  We rubbed some Olive Oil, salt and pepper on the turkey, to give her something fun to do.

We tried a new cookie recipe that I found on pinterest.  It's a pumpkin cookie with a cream cheese frosting.  Something a little different than pumpkin pie.  They were a hit.

You can find the recipe here on "The Girl Who Ate Everything."  So good!  :)

Of course we also made all the other good Thanksgiving food, like, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, etc.  I'm thinking this is definitely going to be a new tradition in our family to have 2 thanksgivings.

Since I was busy cooking all day Saturday, Sunday I did nothing!  We watched the Seahawk game, sat around in our comfy clothes, and rested.  Now that I've started celebrating for Thanksgiving early, I'm also ready to start decorating for Christmas.

Presents are being ordered.  I have hooked the kids up on Amazon with their own wish list.  They've been browsing online throwing things onto their list.  I'm hoping that will help us this year, plus I figured other family members will love to be able to get on and see what the kids are interested in as well.  Thank you Amazon!  :)

I was looking through my Pinterest pages, and ran upon this picture that I had pinned awhile back.  I love old photographs and this would be a very fun and special way to remember loved ones who are no longer with us, or even just fun memories from years past.
