What's Up Wednesday

Can anyone else believe that January is almost over.  How???

That being said, and with it being the last Wednesday of the month, I'm recapping what's been happening this month.

What we're eating this week

BBQ Chicken Tacos
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Concession Stand Food (Basketball Games)

What I'm reminiscing about

I'm reminiscing about when my kids were younger.  It seems like it was just yesterday and all of a sudden I blinked and my babies aren't babies anymore.

What I'm loving

I'm loving a couple of these memes.  They are so true which makes them so funny!

What we've been up to

Lots of basketball and some wrestling.  My life revolves around my kids schedules.  Outside of them I have no life at the moment!  ;)

Also, my nephew just turned 17.  I had to document this, because I was 17 when he was born.  Which means I'm really not as young as I still feel sometimes.  He hates when people take his picture, so he was giving me the look to knock it off.  Nobody tell him that I posted this one.  ;)

What I'm dreading

Nothing, right now.

What I'm working on

I'm working on trying to eat better and I'm tracking my calories in, verses calories out.  It definitely gives me the incentive to exercise more when I know I'll get a few extra calories.

What I'm excited about

Is it bad that I have nothing that I'm really excited about?  We don't have any big plans in the near future.  Just everyday things, which I'm good with... I just can't think of anything that I'd consider exciting.

What I'm watching/reading

We've been watching

Caribbean Life
(Or sometimes House Hunters International)

 and the Bachelor.
(I know... I shouldn't watch this!  It's just a stupid kind of funny.)

Right now I'm reading, To Suit a Suitor, by Paula Kremser.
So far it's a fun and easy read.

What I'm listening to

One of my favorite songs right now is, Chain Breaker by Zach Williams.  If you haven't listened to it, it's so good.  Here's the chorus.
"If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker"
Wasn't it Peter, who was in prison, and a great earth quake shook the jail, opening the door and breaking his chains off?!  We still serve the same God, and he's still a chain breaker!

And then I love, Magnify, by We Are Messengers.  This is my favorite part of the lyrics.
"Oh God be greater, than the worries in my life
Be stronger, than the weakness in my mind
Be louder, let your Glory come alive
Be magnified"
That, my friends, doesn't have to be just lyrics.  That is an awesome prayer.  If you pass me in the car with either of these songs playing, you can bet that I'm belting them out, and looking like a full on dork... but I love them.

What I'm wearing

I really need to try and take a few pictures of some of my favorite outfits to share with you all... but honestly I'll pretty much be wearing the same things until this weather warms up in late Spring.  Layers & layers, with a scarf or a vest.

What I'm doing this weekend

We have games on Saturday, then Sunday will be busy with Church, bowling and a birthday party. Our weekends seem to be just as busy as our weekdays.

What I'm looking forward to next month

As much as I love watching Gracie play basketball, I'm looking forward to basketball wrapping up for the season.   We only have 2 1/2 weeks left.  It's been a long season, and I think we are all ready to have a little bit of a life again.  I said that after volleyball ended didn't I, and then we jumped right back into something else... who knows.  I'm sure we'll always have something to do.  That's just life, right!

What else is new

Not a whole lot.

So that's my What's Up Wednesday for ya.  Once again I'm linking up with Shay, Mel & Sheaffer.

Has January went as fast for you as it has for me?

  1. Gonna be honest- I love concession stand food! And I just made chili last night for lunch today. Yummy!

  2. I LOVE Chain Breaker. I've been belted that out in the car too and usually start crying :-p I couldn't remember if I had heard Magnify so I just added it to my Amazon Music list and I have and love it too :) Love the picture of you and the kiddos long ago!

  3. Love those song lyrics. Is it just me, or is January just a hard month to post What's Up? I felt so boring this month...LOL

  4. The memes had me lol - so true! I also laugh at concession food, we aren't there yet but I can see it coming. All I have to say is I love walking tacos and nachos so I will survive ;)!!!! Where does the time go - slow doe it goes too fast!!!!!! Have a great day! Xoxo Erin

  5. Love Chain Breaker! I caught myself singing in my head as I read over the lyrics. I've been hearing it on my commute to work and really enjoy the lyrics!!

    1. It's such a good song! Hope you're having a great week!

  6. Love the memes. And yeah this is a time of year with nothing new, nothing to dread which is good but nothing new.
