Looking Ahead

With the beginning of a new year, I'm looking ahead and making some changes.  I was reminded lately, that I can't do it all.  So I'm at the point where I'm once again choosing where to put my time and energy.  Here is a little list of what I'm choosing.

My Family.  I want to be more intentional about the time that I spend with my family.  If I don't get my blog post finished, or get my review submitted when I want to, or whatever... it'll be fine.  I don't want to become distracted by everything else that I feel I need or want to do, that I forget to put my family first.

My walk with God.  I'm starting another Bible study this month, and I couldn't be more excited.  I not only love the time I get to spend with the women in the study, but I love my devotion time where I get to sit and read & study God's Word.  I want to challenge myself to dig into the Word more than ever this year, and be consistent in making the time.  There is nothing more fulfilling!

My Photography.  I have no plans to ever get back into portrait photography.  I loved what I did, but I think that ship has sailed and the desire is no longer there.  Be that as it may, I'm ready to be inspired to use my camera again.  Mainly just for blogging purposes or to take pictures of my kids.  I want to use my camera more on a daily basis, and be better at documenting our busy little life.  I'm hoping the more I get back out there and use my camera, the more my passion for photography will develop.

My blog.  I want to get on a better schedule with my blog and be a bit more consistent.  Some days I post and then I'll let a couple of weeks go by where I won't post anything.  I want to be wiser with my time and get more posts written in advance, so I'm not hurrying to get them written at the last minute, or just not having the time to post anything at all.

My health & fitness.  I've really let myself slide in this area, and I have no excuses.  It needs to change.  Some days, I just feel old and tired.  Then I remind myself that I am only 35 and that someday, I will look back and wish I was 35.  I need to take care of the body that I have, so that I'll not only look and feel better, but that I'll also be able to do the things that I want to do, without the hindrance of being out of shape.

My house.  I have started spring cleaning, but I am ready to see every inch of my house clean, & organized.  I don't want to just clean it, but I want to get rid of everything that we don't use or need.  Whether it's in our closets, cupboards, storage room... I am so tired of the excess.  Less, really is more, and I'm just ready to live a little more simple.

Whether I call them resolutions or goals for the year, I don't think it quite matters.  Getting my intentions written down for the year feels good.

I pray all good things for you this year, my friends.

  1. Love this list! I'm hoping to stick to the schedule I have blogging (5 week days), but realize it is OK if I miss a day!

Also, I want to simplify too. Even after purging last year when I moved, I have way too much stuff. New year, new me, less stuff! Great idea!

  2. A most noble list Jenny! And, yes, you will look back on 35 as being very young my dear! And, as to stuff, oh my goodness, it can certainly take over our lives if we don't get and keep a handle on it. As I said, you have a most noble list. Blessings!

  3. Love this Jenny! You have your priorities right in line, starting with your family. And taking care of your body will definitely help you feel better overall.

  4. Those are great! I'm definitely going to try and focus on my relationship with God. I really haven't been spending as much time in the Word as I'd like and I can feel it. Happy new year, Jenny!

  5. I love every single intention that you set! We really do need to enjoy the simple days, our health and families more! I've reduced my blog posts to make time for other meaningful things! Hoping your year is fabulous!
