Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

My kids only have 6 1/2 days of school left.  I feel like I could end this post right now, and that you'd understand and share in my excitement but, I'm not going to.  The show must go on.  ;)

I've got an assortment of favorites this week.

 Both of my friend's daughters had a high school track meet for district's last weekend and I rode up to watch.  It was sooo cold.  The three of us bundled up in one blanket and looked like idiots, but we were probably warmer than most.  I love these ladies!

I have started reading Wings of the Wind, by Connilyn Cossette and I'm loving it!  You all know I don't say I am loving a book unless I really am.  I'm not afraid to call a book the way I see it.  So far this one is good.  I'm about half way through and I'll be sure and let you know what I think once I'm done with it.

I don't normally drop cuss words into my posts, but thought this was funny, probably because it is so true!

 I don't know who comes up with these meme's but I just love when I find new ones that are just so true and creative.  While reading all of these I was nodding my head and saying "Yes!!!"  Good job meme people... keep em coming!  ;)

Our Jamaican Vacation & A Giveaway!

I've been meaning to share about our trip to Jamaica for the last couple of weeks, but I wanted a bit of time to soak it all in first.


We stayed in Montego Bay Jamaica, at the Sandals Royal Caribbean and had a great time!

Welcome to Jamaica Man!

 When we arrived we had a couple hours until check in, so we sat and had lunch on the beach.

Going from rainy cold Montana to warm and humid Jamaica seemed like a slice of Heaven.

 
After lunch we grabbed a cocktail and walked along the beach.

 This swing... I can't believe more people didn't use it.  They were available almost every time we walked by.

 
A gorgeous view from the buffet style restaurant.  This was such a quick and easy place to stop in and grab breakfast or lunch.  And with a view like this you don't feel like you are missing out on anything.

 

I am a sucker for a beautiful sunset.  Isn't it crazy that after years and years, they are still just as gorgeous as the first time you noticed one.

I got in a lot of reading on this trip and I can't wait to tell you all about them.

Our resort was the perfect size.  Not too big or too small.

These two pools were right outside our room.  One to the right and the other to the left.  They were never busy, as these were the quieter pools.

Out on the little island, they have this wonderful Thai restaurant.  It was such a fun evening.  My favorite thing on vacation besides the amazing weather and location, is time alone with this guy.  It's so hard to fit in time for each other with the business, kids and life.

This was the view from the restaurant on the last night.  We took the shuttle over to one of the other Sandals resorts.  The food wasn't my favorite at the Italian restaurant, but you couldn't beat this view!  Gorgeous!

We were up the next morning by 4:00am to catch our flight home.

Happy Friday Friends!

It's always crazy to me how fast one week rolls into the next.  It seems I was just getting ready to leave on our vacation, and now it's already been a week since we've been back home.

Okay, onto my favorites for the week.

~ONE~

~TWO~

I'm just about finished with this book, and I've really liked it!  Nothing that she said was new or anything that I didn't already know, besides her own experiences.  But it's sure nice to have a reminder every once in a while.  Someone to help put everything back into perspective and get you thinking straight again.

~THREE~

If I could only remember to do this more often.  I am a natural over-analyzer.  I can over-analyze any and every situation, and it doesn't do me any good.  I need to learn to accept what is, and let go of what was, a whole lot easier.

~FOUR~

 For about a week the weather has been so nice here.  Like upper 70's low 80's.  It's been great!

One afternoon before I planned to meet my sister for lunch, I grabbed an ice tea and walked down to our park/dam.  It was gorgeous out, I had an ice tea, I was wearing my Birks and life was glorious!  I whine all winter long about the cold weather, but I make up for it by singing about how awesome summer is.  ;)

Yesterday, I went for another chiropractic appointment, and I had to stop and snap a picture of Flathead lake.  These pictures don't do it justice.  If you follow me on Instagram, be sure and check out my story.  I took a video that shows it off so much better.

Today, I liked up with Andrea, Erika & Narci.

10 Must Haves For Summer Vacation

Today I'm sharing 10 must haves for Summer vacation.  Which is perfect because we just got back last weekend from our vacation, and warm sunny weather is still on my mind

Here is my list in no particular order...

Swim cover

I love a cute swim cover.  I don't have this one yet... but isn't it cute?!

Sunblock

Hawaiian Tropic is my favorite sunblock.  It works great and smells even better.

A good swimsuit

I shared a favorite swimsuit of mine the other day, and this is my other favorite.  This is one I have to be a bit more careful with, so I don't end up with weird tan lines, but I like that things are a bit more covered and family friendly.

Flip flops

Reef's are one of my favorite brands for flip flops.  They are so comfy and wear so well.

Shades

With having light colored eyes, it's so important for me to protect my eyes.  I love the idea of not spending a lot on sunglasses, but this is an area that I'd rather spend a bit more and have better protection.  After all, I only get one set of eyes.

 

A cute fedora

I don't know about you guys, but I wear my fedora's out.  I have been reshaping the one I have, and I wouldn't be surprised if I had to pick up another one sometime this summer.

A good book

 This was one of the better books that I've read in a while.  If you haven't read it yet, this summer would be a great time to check it out.

Magazines

  This time of year, I usually always have a magazine or two in my bag.  Some situations call for a book and others call for a quick read in a magazine. 

A large water bottle

Being out in the sun all day, I need a large water bottle.  I refuse to buy anything smaller than 32 oz.  It just won't last long enough.

The Chapel Car Bride

I just finished reading The Chapel Car Bride.  I've read a lot of different books written by Judith Miller, and I've enjoyed a lot of them.  Unfortunately, this is one that I didn't care for as much.

The story itself was original, and the author is a great writer with lots of details throughout the book, but this book just wasn't for me.  I had a hard time caring about what was happening or even the characters in general.

This book is based in a small mining town, where the people are poor and living in really rough conditions.  Hope and her father arrive in town to minister to the families and while they are there, they are pulled into a bit of the local drama. There are dangerous illegal activities, and Hope has to decide who she can trust and who she shouldn't.

Overall, I'd say this book was okay.  I think there are a lot of people who would probably enjoy this much more than I did.  Again, I think she is a great author, and I have enjoyed other books that she has written, so I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for more of her books in the future.
